About the Life Care Fund

The Life Care Fund provides financial assistance through The Oaks Foundation to Copeland Oaks residents whose financial resources are no longer adequate to cover the costs of their care such as housing, meals, prescriptions, and healthcare needs. Life Care is a concept that makes Copeland Oaks unique among retirement communities. No resident has ever been asked to leave for financial reasons.  If a resident requires financial assistance from the Life Care Fund, they have the comfort and security knowing they will continue to be well cared for. Typically, this fund provides $800,000 to $1,000,000 a year in charitable care.

The Oaks Foundation is the fundraising arm for Copeland Oaks and Crandall Medical Center. The foundation encourages philanthropy and Christian stewardship on behalf of Copeland Oaks and Crandall Medical Center. For more information on the foundation please visit www.oaksfoundation.com or contact Lisa Gentile at 330-938-7405 or lisa@oaksfoundation.com

Meet Our Featured Resident

The Designer, Chuck Bell

Meet The Designer

Chuck Bell, a resident of Copeland Oaks Retirement Community, uses his experience as a designer for Ford, GM and Chrysler to teach classes and pass on creativity to our other residents.

  • Worked in Michigan as an auto designer for the Big Three
  • Loves to dream up concept cars
  • Drew defense maps for U.S. Army during the Korean conflict
  • Teaches art and design classes
  • Never sat on the bench for a high school or college ball game

Why Copeland Oaks?

Remember the Packard, the Valiant and the original Dodge Dart? That’s Chuck Bell’s work! Chuck created prototypes and wrote owners’ manuals for Ford, GM, and Chrysler. At Copeland Oaks, Chuck teaches watercolor classes at the Creativity Center, builds sets for holiday productions, and is creating a T-Rex for the local YMCA Youth Day camp. Chuck has moved his design studio from Detroit to the spacious basement of his Copeland Oaks Villa.

Meet Our Featured Staff

Meet Chris Delp, Clinical Coordinator/LPN Supervisor

Congratulations to our June OAKS Award winner, Chris Delp. Our monthly OAKS Award recognizes “Outstanding Acts of Kindly Service.”

Chris started out working at Crandall Medical Center as an Aid 23 years ago until she became an LPN and worked her way up to LPN Supervisor and Clinical Coordinator. In her current position, she follows the Psychiatrist during rounds, handles pain assessments and follow-ups, among many other duties.

One of the reasons Chris was nominated for this award was because of her dedication to her job and our residents. “For weeks and weeks, Chris has been covering another full-time position, working many hours every day. That’s dedication!” said one of her coworkers.

Chris’s says the most rewarding part of working at Crandall is the opportunity to meet all of the residents and learn about their lives. When asked to describe Crandall in a brief sentence, she said, “Crandall is a great community to work and to live.”

Congratulations again, Chris. Thank you for being such an asset to our team for so long. Your commitment and hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.

Ask us how you can receive one month free rent when you move into a Lakeshore Apartment by August 30th.
