Meet Karen Ward
Maintenance Secretary
Congratulations to our October OAKS Award winner, Karen. Our monthly OAKS Award recognizes “Outstanding Acts of Kindly Service.”
Karen started working at Copeland Oaks 23 ½ years ago in the Dietary Department as a waitress. Throughout the years she has worked in many departments including: Housekeeping, Activities, Mailroom, Front Desk and finally her current role as Maintenance Secretary. Karen was nominated for this award because of how hard she works to keep the Maintenance Department organized and ensure all of the maintenance needs are met for the entire campus.
One coworker said, “Karen goes above and beyond to ensure that the Maintenance Department handles all issues for employees and residents. She has excellent customer service skills and is a joy to work with. Maintenance and Grounds are responsible for tons of things around here and she most definitely helps Jerry keep it all running.”
Karen says that the most rewarding part about working at Copeland Oaks is the relationships she’s built over the years with residents and coworkers. “It is one huge extended family here,” she added.
