A Community that Partners with The Ohio Assisted Living Association
Copeland Oaks Retirement Community is a senior community for adults 55 and older in every stage of living with a campus located on 250 scenic acres in Sebring, Ohio. Copeland Oaks is a Residential Care Facility (RCF) that partners with the Ohio Assisted Living Association to provide quality care to seniors, important training and certification opportunities to employees and more.
Copeland Oaks’ OALA Membership Means Safe Staff and Safe Facilities
To be a member of the Ohio Assisted Living Association (OALA), Copeland Oaks must comply with all assisted living regulations in Ohio. The OALA represents over 530 licensed Assisted Living Communities throughout the state.
Benefits of Copeland Oaks’ partnership with the Ohio Assisted Living Association include access to legislative information and regulatory support. OALA provides assistance if Copeland requires clarification around a regulation or further information, as well as sample templates of required forms for our Residential Care Facility.
Licensed Residential Care Facilities (RFCs) are also required to adhere to the specific rules to be eligible for OALA Membership including:
- Residents’ Rights (OAC 3701-61)
- Criminal record background check requirements for staff providing direct care to residents (OAC 3701-13)
- Certified Medication Aide Program (OAC 4723-27)
- Assisted Living Medicaid Waiver program specifications (OAC 173-39-01 through -08, from the Ohio Dept. of Aging, and OAC 5160-33, from the Ohio Dept. of Medicaid)
- Ohio law requirements for licensed “homes” (Ohio Revised Code)
- Other requirements are found in the Ohio Building Code, Ohio Fire Code, and the Ohio Food Code
Copeland Oaks also takes advantage of OALA educational opportunities like attending scheduled state conferences, regional workshops, and webinars throughout the year. Copeland Oaks professionals will be attending the next upcoming Training Event, ServSafe Level 2 Dietary Certification Course, on May 20-21st, 2019. This two-day course includes the exam needed to complete the certification program.
Our professionals are also provided training materials through OALA forms, worksheets, and resources. Additionally, the Ohio Assisted Living Association provides opportunities for networking with industry professionals on a statewide basis, support in working with legislators and governmental agencies on the state and local level, and more.
Recognition from the Ohio Assisted Living Association
The Ohio Assisted Living Association awards and recognizes assisted living communities each year. Last year, Copeland Oaks and Crandall Medical Center Chaplain, Rev. David Parry, was presented with the 2018 Honoring Excellence in Assisted Living Award.
According to the Ohio Assisted Living Association, “This award is given annually to outstanding employees that demonstrate vision, innovation, leadership and compassion in their role.”
