Executive Director or CEO
I came to Copeland Oaks in August of 2002.
Because I am committed to working in a leadership role in a faith-based, not-for-profit organization serving older adults. I felt “called” to this role.
A calm, steady leadership style. A participative approach to management that values the input of others. An open, transparent approach to administration that seeks to keep all parties informed about issues.
Interacting with the residents. I love the meetings and events that give me the opportunity to talk face-to-face with the people who live and work at Copeland Oaks. I also enjoy solving problems and helping to ensure that people are successful.
Satisfied customers- “happy campers” – providing services that make people smile. “good care”
For Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services (OPRS) at their Breckenridge Village campus in Willoughby, Ohio.
Administrator for 14 years and Executive Director for 2 years
16 years
almost 29 years
I worked for 9 years in Sheltered Workshops for mentally and physically handicapped adults
The scope and breadth of our services- having all levels of care available and also having services on campus such as banking, physicians, dentist, massage therapist, library, chapel, several different dining services, wellness center, television studio, etc. We are also unique in the level of activity of our residents with a multitude of resident groups and organizations (all resident led). And finally, the beauty of our campus is very special.
My experience here has helped to highlight my strengths and weaknesses. It has made me more aware of my need to work together with other skilled and talented people to move the organization forward. We’ve had our fair share of challenges, but I have a great staff to work with to overcome them.
The most important benefit is the opportunity to meet fascinating people who have a lifetime of knowledge and experience to share. I also have come to appreciate the fitness center.
I am active in the Alliance Rotary. I have been involved in the United Methodist Association as a peer reviewer in the EAGLE Accreditation program. I just finished up a term on the Board of the United Way of Greater Stark County (4 year term). And my wife and I are actively involved in the Alliance Friends Church.
